One of the most intense experiences on our journey through Israel was visiting the holocaust memorial ‘Yad Vashem’ which is located on a hill close to Israel. My history lessons in school where not able to give me such a deep understanding of the holocaust like this memorial did. Of course I had known about the grotesque and cruel actions of the Nazi regime before but it had never touched me as deep and lasting like it did in Yad Vashem.
